Fix Roku “Media Not Allowed; E-token Corrupted” On ESPN

Why do I see Media Not Allowed Issue With ESPN On Roku TV?

Media Not Allowed….message indicates that you are trying to play the channel that needed one kind of authentication to watch. In this case, we have to use the login credentials such as username and password. Another cause of the issue is that access to the channel is not included in your provider subscription.

It’s a type of Roku channel load content issue that we can easily fix. But you have to check that you have a valid subscription plan on ESPN or whatever channel you are seeing this message. once you check, and the issue is not resolved, you can confirm that the issue is related to authentication.

Fix the ‘Media Not Allowed; E-token corrupted’ Message Issue

Step 1:- Sign out of the app in the app settings

Step 2:- Uninstall the channel app from Roku. To do this, highlight the channel on the Home screen. Press the * (star) symbol on the remote, then select Remove channel

Step 3:- Turn off the device for 1 – 2 minutes (Optional)

Step 4:- Turn on the Roku TV, go to the channel store, and re-install the channel app

Step 5:- Sign in to the app with the correct login details. This will re-authenticate and will view the content on the channel.

How to stop this issue from happening in the future?

Turn ON auto-renewal of the subscription-based application on Roku so that it will never happen in the future.

Be sure to use the correct Roku user profile. Because, on another profile, the channel may not have access. Additionally, keep updating the Roku TV firmware and the channel applications whenever new updates are there. Most probably, Roku will run an update check and update all the software automatically whenever new versions are released.

Do not sign out from the mobile version of the application. Once you sign out from your mobile smartphone, there could be an authentication issue that will happen in the Roku TV system.

When you update the channel app profile password from your mobile phone, re-authenticate with the new password on Roku TV.
