Have you ever spent frustrating minutes (or even hours) searching for your lost Roku remote? This is a common problem that most users have experienced. Your remote can easily get misplaced in couch cushions or under furniture. Fortunately, there are some simple tips and tricks you can use to locate it and get back to control your device quickly.
Roku has a remote finder feature that helps any user find the misplaced remote by triggering a voice command. At the same time, we can use alternate methods.
Here, you’ll learn how to find the Lost Roku remote with or without a remote finder.
It’s become routine in my home for the remote to go missing somewhere in the couch cushions or chair cushions, especially since all my family members use it. I’m grateful to Roku Inc. for the handy remote finder feature, we can use it on our device when we lose the remote and locate it within a minute.
How to find the missing Roku remote?
Use the Roku remote finder
Now, some Roku devices (Like ULTRA) that come with a Voice Pro remote have a remote finder feature. As the name denotes, it aims to help the users find the remote control when it misses somewhere around.
There’s a small lost remote finder button on the top or side of the device box (varies in different models).
Press the button on the Roku device to make the remote control make a beep sound. You can then locate it by listening to where the beeping sound is coming from.
Your remote control will beep for 60 seconds. Try to stay as quiet as possible so you can listen closely to the beeping sound. If the speaker portion of the remote is pressed against a surface, the beeping will be on a small volume and harder to hear.
Trigger the remote with a voice command
For this, you must have a hands-free Roku Voice Pro remote. Trigger by saying,
Hey Roku, where is my remote
Say it in a clear, louder, and conversational tone. You’ll listen to the beeping sound, and find it.
When it doesn’t trigger, you can make use of the mobile application.
Find the remote with a mobile
First of all, download and install the Roku mobile app on your smartphone.
Complete the initial setup (You may have already done it before) like signing up and connecting the device. Ensure the mobile phone is connected to the WiFi where you connected your device and the Voice Pro remote.
Check the Devices tab to ensure the device is connected to the app. Then tap on the three dots that you see in the connected device and select the Ping remote option to trigger the option.
On the app, you can launch the Remote control interface. Now you can use the mobile app as a virtual remote control.
Follow the path Home>>Settings > Remotes & devices > Remotes > [select your remote] > Find remote, to trigger your missing remote.
Find the remote of Smart TVs powered by Roku OS
If you are using smart TVs powered by the Roku operating system, first, you should check the buttons on them except the power button.
There are single and 3 buttons on varying models.
If the TV has only a single button, press it to open the inputs menu. Press again each time until you get the ‘Find Remote‘ option.
For TVs with 3 buttons, press the middle button once to get the menu. Press again and again until you see the Find Remote option.
How to know if your Roku remote has a voice feature?
It is not a difficult task. Just see the back portion and if you see the holes that represent speaker location, then you can confirm that your remote has voice functionality.
This speaker is making a noise when you trigger the lost remote finder. You can change the sound from the list of available sounds like we set the ring tone on our mobile phones from the built-in ring tones.
Once you find your lost Roku remote, immediately set the tone with the maximum sound so that we can find it immediately the next time it is misplaced.
The settings path is here
Home>>Settings>>Remotes & Devices>> Remote>>Select your’s>>Change the remote finder sound>>select from available tones>>Ok to set it
Conclusion
Losing the Roku remote can be frustrating, but using the simple techniques in this guide will help you locate it quickly. Activating the remote finder feature to make it beep, using a smartphone app, retracing steps, and checking under furniture are effective methods.
If you have well-organized furniture at home, you can easily find the remote without the remote finder option. Ask your kids to know whether they throw it somewhere. And for homes having pets, it is a high chance that your dog pick it up and leave it somewhere at your home.
