You can set the sleep timer on Roku TV when you want the TV to automatically turn off when a particular time is reached. This is a great feature when you have a habit of falling asleep while watching movies, especially at night. rather than this particular use, this feature provides additional benefits like preventing overheating issues, conserving energy, risk of screen burn damages, etc.
Some model Roku remotes have shortcut methods to enable it. I’ll share all three possible methods here in this post for you.
Here’s the simple method.
- Turn on your Roku TV
- Go to the Settings option from the home page
- select ‘System Settings,’ and select then select ‘Time’
- Navigate to the Sleep timer option
By default, the timer would be OFF.
You can set the sleep timer for every 30 minutes. And it can set up to 3 hours. When you set it for 1.30 hours, your Roku TV will automatically be turned OFF after one and a half hours. Once you set the time, follow the onscreen instructions to complete it.
Shortcut method to set Roku TV sleep timer
You can simply turn on the sleep timer without going through the menu options. When your Roku TV gets the home screen, you can see the sleep timer tile at the bottom of the screen. Completely scroll down to locate the tile, and when you select it, you can see different timing options that you can simply set the different timer options. Select one to set it. That’s easy as it is.
Set sleep timer through the voice command option
When your Roku remote has a voice command feature, it makes it even simpler to set the sleep timer. If your device is new it may have a voice option. Additionally, when you have a Roku mobile application, it also has voice function.
To turn on the sleep timer, press and hold the voice button (Mike button), and give this command.
- Turn OFF TV in 90 minutes
- Turn OFF TV at 2 PM
- Set sleep timer at 1 AM
Automatic power saving mode
In addition to the sleep timer, Roku has a power savings mode that reduces power consumption. Here’s a quick method to enable the power-saving mode.
Go to the Roku settings and then get system settings. Then navigate to the power option. Select the Auto power savings tab and click the OK button on the remote.
By enabling it, you’ll get two options to set.
- Reduce power after 15 minutes – when you don’t have interactions with the TV for 15 minutes, It’ll undergo power savings mode
- Turn off after 4 hours – When there is no interaction between you (Remote) and the TV for 4 hours, the Roku will turn ON the power savings mode. This option is not applicable for live videos or streaming.
