We’ll provide troubleshooting tips to help you diagnose the issue and get your remote working properly again. It’s necessary to understand the blinking codes on both Roku and the remote so that we can easily identify the real issue and apply the troubleshooting tips accordingly.
Just know some of the tips that you can do when the Roku device LED blinks in white color.
Why is my Roku TV remote blinking Green light?
If your Roku remote continuously blinks a green light, it means it is trying to pair with your device. It’ll automatically stop blinking once the pairing process is completed. It could take only less than one minute. But if it flashes continuously, and won’t work the remote, I have a couple of troubleshooting tips that I can share with you.
Flashing occurs when your TV starts turning ON. Somehow, it gets unpaired.
A tiny light is present on the remote, the exact locations may vary depending on the models. The light is usually located on the top, bottom, or just the back side of the remote, just beneath the pairing button.
How to fix the issue?
We have found out the primary reason for the issue. Hopefully, it will be fixed in the first troubleshooting method that I am going to show below. If that doesn’t work, then follow additional tips.
Properly pair the remote to the Roku TV
There is a dedicated pairing button on the remote we can use to get it synced. But as we get the green color fishing on the remote tiny light, we have to pair it with the TV after doing the system power cycling.
Remove the batteries from the remote control. Then unplug all the connections between the TV and devices, the TV and the power plug, etc.
Then, wait 2 minutes. After that, re-plug all of them properly. Insert batteries on the TV.
Turn on the TV. Once the TV shows its home screen, press and hold down the pairing button until the pairing message opens up on the screen. It may take less than 10 seconds. Once you get the pairing message, the Green light blinking issue will be solved.
If the problem still exists, then try the following DIY tips too.
Replace the batteries
Green light flashing even after pairing properly as I mentioned above?
Then replace the batteries and again pair the remote. Roku provides an easy way to check the battery charge level through their settings tab. But when your original remote shows the blinking error, you can check it by using the virtual remote app on the Roku mobile application.
If the charge on the batteries is very low, it may show anonymous behaviors like blinking issues. It may be in RED.
Buy a new set of batteries (preferably a good brand). Replace them. Now, pair again.
Check network strength
If you are using a remote that works based on WiFi connectivity, your remote can’t establish a connection with the Roku TV while starting up. It may be due to the poor WiFi connection. Check the internet connection and check the signal strength is good enough to get connected between them.
Have you recently disconnected Roku TV from WiFi to connect to another network? It also causes the pairing trouble.
So, what you can do is, just re-connect the device to the previous WiFi network and pair the remote.
Otherwise, you should reset your Roku TV and initially set it up with the remote control. Resetting becomes easy as there are reset buttons on most of the smart TVs.
Try a wet troubleshooting tip
Has your Roku TV remote recently got wet? It may be got serious issue then. if the issue is minor and can be resolved by yourself. I have already written an article about the things that you can do when your Roku TV remote gets wet by water, Tea, juice, or some other liquid.
The link is provided. Check it out and troubleshoot by yourself.
Unpair additional remote
Do you have more than one remote and both of them are paired? The green blinking may be due to the duplicate issue. If both of them are in your entertainment room, just beneath the TV, I suggest you move one remote away. Or just remove the batteries from one.
Once you do this, try the troubleshooting tip one (Properly pair it) after doing power recycling.
Conclusion
A blinking green light on your Roku remote can be frustrating, but it’s usually an easy issue to resolve. I listed out all of the possible ways to get it fixed without the help of a service technician, or without contacting the customer service point.
Try, fix, and enjoy streaming.
